About The Gingham Goose

Gwen Anderson It was a long time dream of Gwen Andrews to open a consignment shop to showcase the talents and creations of the members of her small community in Toledo, Oregon. Her dream was realized in 1976 with the opening of The Gingham Goose in a converted carport at her home.

Many of the items in her shop were created from her own original designs. In 1979, with encouragement from customers, friends and family, Gwen printed patterns for eight of her original designs and took her patterns to the central Oregon town of Sisters for their annual quilt show, where she sold her entire inventory in two days. This was the beginning of distribution of The Gingham Goose pattern line, which now consists of 64 designs for baby quilts and accessories, dolls, toys and holiday and home decor.

From the very beginning, The Gingham Goose was a family affair with Gwen's husband, Vernon, overseeing the printing, packaging and national wholesale distribution of the patterns.

Janice, Suzanne and Amy of The Gingham Goose When Gwen found she needed to devote more time to the designing aspect of her business, daughters Janice Harrison and Suzanne Huffman, began running the retail shop which had grown to occupy every room in the house, causing the family to move their "nest" to a new home nearby.

Over the years, Gwen's two grandsons and two granddaughters have also been involved in the family business, stocking inventory, assembling patterns and processing mail order requests. Suzanne's daughter, Amy Groce, is currently managing the Mail Order Department, a position she has held for seven years.

Since Gwen's retirement in 1987, the business operations have been overseen by Suzanne and Janice.

"It is our desire at The Gingham Goose to share our love of crafts and quilting with others. We take our inspiration from the many comments from our customers sharing their stories of the quilts and dolls they have enjoyed making for their children and grandchildren using our easy to follow patterns and instructions. We hope you too will enjoy using these patterns to stitch up your own special creations for your family."

Happy Sewing!
